URDAL AT ARTIST RESIDENCY, UTSIRA LIGHTHOUSE
Rogaland county municipality can offer artists from Norway and abroad an opportunity to enjoy and be inspired by Rogaland's culture and scenery. Artists can stay up to 14 days at one of four residences. The stay is free of charge. The applicant must document his or her history of artistic enterprise in a CV. The applicant must specify preferred residence and duration of stay.
Applicants who have not previously been granted residencies will be given priority. If an applicant has been granted a stay at one of the artist residences and without prior warning does not make use of the residence, the county municipality may demand compensation for rent expenses.
Utsira Lighthouse is located on the tiny island municipality of Utsira (population 216), the smallest in Norway. Utsira is an island in the North Sea, 15 km west of Karmøy in Rogaland. The residence is part of a recently renovated semi-detached house built near the end of the 1950s. All buildings part of Utsira Lighthouse are protected by the Cultural Heritage Act. The residence is comprised of a living room, kitchen, work and exhibition space, bathroom and two bedrooms with a total of 4 beds.
